User Comments:Finally a GOOD HORROR FILM. Good film period. Finally a GOOD HORROR FILMFinally, a horror film about adults. Adults with complex issues and children that act like children and not hyper precocious sex models. The reason to see this film isn't to find out the over advertised " Esther's secret" of the film (a MAJOR misstep in marketing. Too many people now enter the film trying to figure out the "secret" before they normally would have been surprised), but rather to see a well-acted (extremely well acted by Vera F.)slow-building suspense story with excellent direction and cinematography. John Ottman's score also serves the film well, without becoming overpowering in signaling this is a "creepy" film. The actress who plays Esther shows a skill in performance that makes one think we may actually have another Jodie Foster to keep an eye on. This film works because we LIKE the characters (Rob Zombie please take note!) and fear for them and their survival. Dark Castle's best film, and it givesone hope that the horror/suspense genre still can be presented with intelligence and depth. Hollywood take note: we don't want a xerox of this film, but we do want more films that share this film.

Transformers : Revenge Of The Fallen

Director : Michael Bay

Writers (WGA) : Ehren Kruger (written by) &Roberto Orci (written by)

Genre : Action Adventure Sci-Fi

Tagline : Revenge is coming.

Plot : Decepticon forces return to Earth on a mission to take Sam Witwicky prisoner, after the young hero learns the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers. Joining the mission to protect humankind is Optimus Prime, who forms an alliance with international armies for a second epic battle. The battle for Earth has ended but the battle for the universe has just begun. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots with reinforcements of their own, may have more to deal with then meets the eye. User Comments:AWESOME!!!!!! one of the best 2009 movies..cast:Anthony Anderson, Hugo Weaving, Isabel Lucas, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Megan Fox, Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese GibsonStory:It would be easy to say that Michael Bay’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen plays like a movie made by a thirteen year old boy for other thirteen year old boys, but if that were actually the case, it might not be such a wretched experience. Made by a filmmaker who doesn’t seem to be much evolved beyond the mentality of a teenager, yes, Revenge of the Fallen could also probably be characterized as the Hollywood sequel machine run amok. Who needs ‘better’ when you can do more, louder, flashier?
Transformers is dull, ponderous and overlong, packed to the gills with glamor shots of busy robot designs and Megan Fox, flashes of idiocy (a small robot humping the leg of Fox, who smiles at it fondly) and endless examples of Bay’s increasingly tedious military porn. If summer entertainment is meant to be diverting and imaginative, Revenge of the Fallen succeeds only in that it drove me into periods of catatonic daydreaming, where I imagined watching anything else.Returning human couple Sam (Shia LaBeouf) and Mikayla (Fox) are both one-dimensional fantasies, so they’re perfect for each other. (He’s the overly geeky, awkward kid who still gets the wildly hot girl, she’s said wildly hot girl who also knows which end of a wrench is the important one.) As Sam is about to go away to college the two get drawn back into the interstellar war between the Autobots and Decepticons, which is now revealed to have roots in events that took place on earth twenty thousand years ago.
The story is overbearing, and despite occupying massive chunks of the overlong two and a half hour running time, never quite comes together. The Fallen is a rogue cousin of Optimus Prime who decided to make a power grab. Decepticons want to resurrect him and Sam, infected with subconscious knowledge of Transformer history, discovers that finding an old object of power is the only way to stop him. Cue a global trek, the resurrection of an old geezer turncoat robot and endless scenes in which human military tries in vain to shoot down evil robots, seemingly included because all the weapons look neat.
The script allots the story moments of huge importance, like tedious military briefings and intense confrontations between human and robot, because this is a Mythology! It’s a Real Story. The impulse to graft a dense narrative onto what should be ninety minutes of giant robot battles is a tremendous mistake.Bay always makes movies with an eye that takes in little more than what looks good. The approach has worked in the past: The Rock, the Bad Boys movies and much of Armageddon are entertaining in exactly the big, silly sense that Bay seems to intend. But here he goes all out, and all semblance of storytelling gets lost in the whirlwind. A massive evil spaceship plays home to the Decepticons and is then never seen again. Entire swaths of story is set into motion when the bad guys overhear a couple chunks of expository recap dialogue. And a Decepticon disguises itself as a human, begging the question of why all these robots are bothering to be cars in the first place.
Continuity is out the window. Robots marked with dents and battle grime turn into immaculately polished cars. It seems to be daytime everywhere on Earth at once. A construction vehicle becomes a wild two-wheeled Decepticon (seen in the trailers) that grows larger in every successive shot, until it is a dozen times larger than it originally appeared. (Edit: by which I do not mean Devastator, the giant Decepticon which is assembled from a bunch of other construction vehicles.) And unless I missed something (which is possible, as this film bored me into a stupor at times) the characters enter the National Air and Space Museum in DC, look for a mothballed old Transformer, find it and break out the back door, which opens on what seems to be a field in Arizona.
A movie like this is always crafted from flexible, fuzzy logic; this is a story about battles between giant robots from space that discard all laws of mass and physics when they change into cars. But Revenge of the Fallen feels like it was pieced together moment to moment, scenes written on post-it notes and napkins at lunch to be filmed that same afternoon. That’s where the feeling of storytelling by thirteen-year old comes in; it’s all ‘and then, and then, and then’ with no sense of movement or structure. The result is initially disorienting, then just crushingly dull.
The most entertainment the movie offered me was in the handful of scenes shot in native IMAX format. They include a knock-down fight in a forest and some of Devastator’s assault on a pyramid. Perhaps because the sequences were composed and designed to take advantage of the large format, they aren’t as incomprehensible as everything else. They have more flow and a slightly calmer pace than other fight scenes. The visual clarity was also impressive, and after the first such sequence, when I saw the aspect ratio open up to occupy the entire IMAX screen I got a lot more willing to accept the showy theatrics. But as Dave Chen pointed out, those sequences are also undermined by poor planning. The latter IMAX scenes featuring Devastator constantly switch back and forth from the widescreen aspect ratio to IMAX format, which is wildly distracting.
A few moments of nearly inspired lunacy almost brought me back into the tale. (Notably, I was quite amused when Sam is confronted by what seems to be a cohort of heavenly, angelic Autobots.) But those moments were few and far between, and the endless gunfire and explosions separating them were like the loudest lullaby ever written.

In 3-DPlot : A specially trained squad of guinea pigs is dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire from taking over the world. The story is about a team of trained secret agent guinea pigs that takes on a mission for the US government. A specially trained squad of guinea pigs is dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire, who plans to taking over the world with household appliances.
Hear that laughter? There might be a few children in the audience who are easily-entertained by the antics of the fluffy computer-generated guinea pigs that star in the new family adventure “G-Force,” but most of the giggling is coming from producer Jerry Bruckheimer as he strolls all the way to the bank.
As unbelievable as it is, the producer, who is known mostly for mindless action flicks like “Armageddon” and “Gone in Sixty Seconds,” has found another way to fill his pockets all while releasing projects with the entertainment value of a rusty jack in the box. Earlier this year, Bruckheimer jumped genres and released the subpar romantic comedy “Confessions of a Shopaholic.” Now, it’s on to live-action/animation with “G-Force.”
It’s true, Bruckheimer has been down this avenue before, but a computer-generated kangaroo really didn’t do well for him in 2003’s box office and critical bomb “Kangaroo Jack.” In “G-Force,” he and first-time director and visual effects icon Hoyt Yeatman (he won an Oscar for “The Abyss”) shrink the heroes into cuddly rodents with “Mission Impossible” tendencies. Did we mention it’s in 3-D?
The story follows a group of secret agent guinea pigs – voiced by Sam Rockwell, Tracy Morgan, and Penelope Cruz – who try to stop an evil home appliance industrialist (Bill Nighy) from taking over the world. Zach Galifianakis plays the FBI agent who trains the furball trio and the rest of the team, which includes Speckles the Mole (Nicolas Cage, who does some nice voice work) and a housefly named Mooch. Galifianakis, the star of the surprise summer hit “The Hangover,” however, is wasted as is the rest of the human cast. All are lost in a pointless script that relies on stale pop-culture references most kids won’t understand. And don’t say those references are there so parents in the audience don’t go crazy from boredom. If the mental well-being of moms and dads was really a concern, the rest of the movie would’ve at least tried to be entertaining for someone above the age of five.
While the guinea pigs themselves are impressive in terms of quality of graphics, the five screenwriters who churned out “G-Force” don’t give them much to do or say other than the basic action-star drills, stereotypical dialogue, and more than occasional act of flatulence. Guinea pigs were just so much cuter when they were voiceless pets who slept most of the day.

Everything is about to change for Charlie and Guddu. In one day. A day of reckoning. An unusual day, just right for the unusual events that unfold in its course.
Guddu and Charlie are brothers, born and raised in Dharavi, the world's largest slum dwelling in the heart of the megalopolis, Mumbai. They also happen to be identical twins, in early twenties, hoping to leave the squalor behind and move into a life of prosperity and dignity. But the similarity ends here.
Guddu (Shahid Kapoor) works as a trainee in a small NGO firm in the city. He hopes to climb up to the top of the corporate ladder. He wants to be a bona fide member of the burgeoning Indian middle class. His career has only just begun though and the road to bourgeoisie is both long and arduous. Yet Guddu is at it. He is honest, diligent and careful.
Charlie (Shahid Kapoor) makes a living hedging bets at the race course. He moves around the plush hordes of the rich and famous at the races. For him this is just a way to make quick money and he dreams of becoming a legitimate bookie one day. Charlie is street smart, wily and brave and lives only for himself.
The brothers don't like each other. They believe they have nothing in common, not even their speech defect. While Guddu stammers, especially when he is nervous, Charlie has a lisp. They have built their lives so that their paths don't ever cross. They believe it's only a question of time before they are out of each other's sight forever.
Charlie is having a bad day at the office. He has practically bet everything he possesses on a coveted derby race. But at the last minute, he is double crossed as the race is fixed in their opponent's favour. He hunts down the jockey and plans to get even when the rival goons burst in. In the ensuing melee, Charlie and his friends take off with a getaway car, not knowing that the car belongs to a ruthless pair of cops, Lobo and Lele, who run drugs for the beach lord, Tashi. Soon enough, Charlie discovers a stash of coke in the boot of the car. All hell now breaks loose as the cops and the drug mafia are on his case. Charlie has to survive by his wits alone.
Guddu is performing a street theatre act when his newfound girlfriend, Sweety Bhope (Priyanka Chopra) appears on the scene, distraught and announces that she is pregnant. Guddu is shocked at first but realizes quickly that there is no real problem. They can get married right away!
But they can't. There is a real problem. Sweety reveals her secret. Her brother is Sunil 'chopper' Bhope (Amol Gupte), a gangster with political ambitions and a ridiculously dangerous man. And he already knows. Sweety informs Guddu that as they speak, her brother's men are out for his blood.
The story unfolds as the day progresses. Intercut between the parallel stories of the brothers as they run to protect themselves, their dreams and their love. Until a point where it converges and the brothers meet to realize that they only have each other.
It is only through trust in each other that they can get out of the mess that they haven't created. They uncover a deadly political-police-underworld nexus. They discover virtues within themselves they thought didn't exist. And most important of all, they find each other.

Cinematography: Senthil Kumar
Fights: Ram Laxman and Peter Heins
Lyrics: Chandrabose, Keeravani and Bhuvanachandra
Story: V Vijayendra Prasad
Dialogues: M Rathnam
Producer: Allu Aravind
Director: SS Rajamouli
Released On: 31st July 2009
Magadheera sets a new milestone for technical excellence in Telugu movies if not in Indian cinema – starring Ram Charan Teja and Kajal Agarwal, Magadheera is bound to be one of the top three biggest Telugu films of all time.
Magadheera does share some similarities with the blockbuster Arundhati, including the tried and tested medieval reincarnation hocus-pocus, but it is entertaining in its own right and much of the sumptuous imagery will remain in your mind long after you’ve left the theatre.
Set in the 17 century, Ram Charan Teja plays Kala Bhairava, the iron guard of the Udayghad kingdom lovestruck by the Princess Mitra (Kajal Agarwal). The antagonists Sher Khan (Sri Hari) and Randev want Mitra as well as Udhaygad. The two lovers die upon confessing their love for each other. No points for guessing – all of them are reincarnated 400 years later to settle some unfinished business. Kala Bhairava is reborn as a biker named Harsha, Mitra is reincarnated as Indu and Randev as her cousin Raghuvir. Although curiously, only Harsha has flashes of his past life upon contact with Indu. Sri Hari is reborn as Solomon the fisherman.
Director SS Rajamouli goes the whole hog and makes us forget how hackneyed the story is, MM Keeravani’s entertaining music, Senthil’s gorgeous cinematography, Ravinder’s sprawling set pieces will have you drooling. The CGI is absolutely top notch – Magadheera’s special effects look as good as a big budget Hollywood flick inspite of its comparatively miniscule budget. Chiranjeevi’s guest appearance is greeted with huge cheers. The movie does borrow from Hollywood, if you’re a fan of ‘300’ you’d have some major déjà vu during Magadheera.
The performances are generally good, Ram Charan, albeit with limited expressions steals the show with his dance moves and sword fighting. Kajal Agarwal does what she is supposed to do, look good. Sri Hari packs in a punch in his rather small role while the antagonist Randev is quite brilliant. The supporting cast including Rao Ramesh, Sameer, Sunil and Brahmanandam are passable.
Magadheera opened to packed houses, screaming fans and unbelievably long queues. There is no reason why you shouldn’t watch it.
Performances:
Ram Charan:He stood as an icon of macho look. He portrayed the 1609 AD role, Kalabhaiarava, with right bearing and voice modulation. Chiranjeevi’s yester year’s voice echoed in the ears of audiences with that modulation of Ram Charan for that character. His dances are spellbinding, especially in ‘Bangaru Kodi petta..’.
Kajal:She is the right choice and perfect blend. Her elegance is amazing in queen’s role.
Sri Hari:His portrayal as Muslim warrior Sher Khan is quite wonderful. He added value to the movie on a whole.
Dev Gill:This Bollywood villain has shared screen in the main antagonist role. He proved perfect particularly in ‘past birth role’.
Others:Sarath Babu is ok in the role of old king, the father of Yuva Rani Mitravinda.
Rao Ramesh perfectly grooved in the role of Aghora Sadhu with apt gait and voice modulation
Sunil’s comedy is ok to large extent
Technical departments:The movie deserves right mention for music, sound effects, graphics, 3D effects, Cinematography and Choreography. What not! Every technical faculty has rightly worked on this film. Director Rajamouli should be appreciated for his guts to bring such a massive film on Telugu screen.
Allu Aravind should be esteemed for his wonderful production values.
Music And Lyrics:Keeravani and Chandrabose have created wonder with music and lyrics. Every word has aptly grooved into the situation in finest musical form.
Highlights:
Marvelous art work carried to portray Udaigadh city of 1609AD Battle between Kalabhairava and 100 soldiers of Sher Khan Wonderful picturization of Dheera Dheera song Lord Shiva’s statue that brings hysterical feeling Helicopter and bike stunts of Ram Charan

NewYork

Director: Kabir Khan

Producer:Aditya Chopra,Yash Chopra

Written by:Sandeep Shrivastava

Cast: John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Katrina Kaif, Irrfan Khan

New York opens around 7 years after the 9/11 attacks with Omar (Neil Mukesh) being wrongly held captive by the FBI. Investigating officer Roshan (Irrfan Khan) offers to go easy on Omar if he agrees to spy on old-time friend Sameer (John Abraham) who the FBI suspects to be a terrorist. With a maneuvered reunion, Omar gets entry into Sameer’s house and tries hard to unveil his activist identity but fails every time, much to his relief. In contrast, Sameer himself narrates his distressing past to Omar of how he was illegally detained and brutally tortured by the FBI for 9 months, immediately after 9/11 and victimized for being a Muslim suspect in New York. New York opens on an intriguing note with Omar’s attempts to infiltrate into Sameer’s life. The ensuing chemistry between the characters keeps you riveted till the movie takes an interesting (though palpable) twist at the interval point. The terrorism theme comes into picture predominantly in the second half. The physical and mental abuse on innocent Muslims, imprisoned merely on suspicion and their consequent repercussions are effectively portrayed. But beyond that Aditya Chopra’s story doesn’t work towards the rehabilitation of the disturbed mind that has taken to the wrong path. In a way, the film turns the villain into more of an antihero imparting him no character change. Above that the commonplace climax where the FBI headquarters is held as the terrorist target doesn’t go beyond Fanaa frontiers. The terrorist is terminated but the topic of terrorism it tackles keeps long lingering. The message doesn’t come across compellingly and perhaps that’s why the director preaches with an extended epilogue. All the three lead protagonists of New York are Muslims affected by the 9/11 episode in varied ways and to different degrees. Sameer turns a scapegoat of the situation; Omar’s identity gets him in trouble, while Roshan’s character (a Muslim investigating on terrorism) offers that ray of hope prevailing amidst discriminating humankind. Unfortunately the scope it had to represent the contrast of the characters isn’t used as distinctly and effectively like in the Pakistani film Khuda Kay Liye with similar concerns. The issue of global terrorism somewhere goes for a toss with the film turning into a human emotion drama. As the victim is released from prison and his atrocities are still fresh in your mind, the intensity of his trauma is diluted with a love song stuffed in. The couple further goes on to make love and start a family. More mush comes into picture as Omar confesses his campus feelings to the married Maya (Katrina Kaif) amidst the pre-climax mayhem. Thankfully the traditional Yash Raj triangle is averted. The side-track of a frustrated Muslim driver (Nawazuddin) committing suicide doesn’t contribute to the plot and could have been avoided. John does well in his frail characterization which could have been much more convincing, intense and effective. Neil looks rehearsed in some scenes but doesn’t disappoint. Irrfan Khan never misses any punch in his lines and is as expressive as ever. Katrina Kaif doesn’t get the meatier portion and contributes to the sloppy effect. As the last frame closes amidst the Yash Raj mascot of maple leaves, you just wish the film had a lot more grit, the characters had a lot more depth and the treatment had a lot more sensitivity. Alas New York fails to break new grounds on that note.

Kambakth Ishq
Star cast: Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani, Amrita Arora, Kirron Kher and in Sp. App Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards, Brandon Routh and Holly Valance; Director: Sabbir Khan;

Viraj (Akshay) is a Hollywood stunt man who doesn’t believe in marriage and lives by the belief that women are good for only two things. When he comes to know that his younger brother Lucky (Aftab) is getting married, he rushes to break it off. At the same time the bride, Kamini’s (Amrita) best friend Simrita (Kareena) too rushes in dissuading her from getting married to a ‘second hand’ person aka a stuntman. But it is too late as the couple has already made up their mind. But not before a war of words ensues between the chauvinist Viraj and snooty Simrita. The reason why Simrita (who by the way is a medical student cum part time model) hates men is the examples she has seen in her own family. She therefore believes men are only interested in taking women into their beds and nothing else. But then fate keeps Viraj and Simrita bumping more into each other and their each meeting only doubling up their hate for each other. Meanwhile, Simrita’s stubbornness leads Lucky and Kamini to the brink of divorce. While Viraj tries to stop this divorce from taking place Simrita tries her best to ensure it takes place. Things get more complicated when during Viraj’s operation, Simrita accidentally leaves her watch inside his stomach. What it all leads to forms the rest of the plot.

Kambakkht Ishq is one of the most lavish productions to come out of Bollywood no doubts about it. But despite involving four scriptwriters the film still falls short of the expectations where the promised wholesome entertainment is concerned. The main problem being the wafer thin plot, then again some really bad jokes that fall flat and finally the second half. Also many a times the thin line of acceptance has been crossed in the name of humour which makes it a difficult watch for the family audience. The first half breezes quickly but the second half slows down considerably. The serious turn taken though comes in with the flow of the film, it gets boring as you know it very well where it is all going to lead to. Though it is applause worthy job by debutante director Sabbir Khan to helm a film as huge, you sorely miss a David Dhawan who would have controlled the lunatic moments more effeciently. To give due credit, ‘Hollywood’ has been well incorporated by Sabbir in the film. Though Taurus awards sequence has been superbly picturised, the makers seem to be under the impression that award winners arrive first on stage followed by announcement of arrival of award presenters at prestigious international awards.

The film scores high in the technical department with cinematographer Vikas Sivaraman coming on tops. He has succeeded in imparting the film an international look. However, barring the Mangalam number the music of the film is not worth a mention.
Akshay Kumar is back in terrific form as a performer. He is simply superb in his award acceptance speech. Kareena has never looked so hot before. She manages to put up her own against Akshay but is saddled by poor characterization, especially in the second half. Almost 80% of the time her character has been burdened with a permanent growl on the face. Amrita Arora is cute as her dim wit friend. Aftab is passable. Kirron Kher is getting irritatingly repetitive. Boman Irani in a single scene appearance is hilarious but Javed Jaffrey grates on your nerves and its high time he realises that his ‘punny’ jokes don’t work every time. Vindoo Dara Singh as the dumb assist of Akshay is mirthful. Amongst the Hollywood stars, Sylvester Stallone commands great screen presence but Denise Richards looks too old but she does enact her part well.

Watching the promos and the huge hype the makers have managed to create about their film, your expectation levels are high when you enter but as you come out you do feel that it is nothing more than a dumb entertainer that tries to take you too much for granted. It may take a great start at the box office but the crowds will vanish from Monday once the hype begins to settles down.

Love Aaj Kal Pre-release Review
It has been quite sometime since we got to watch a hardcore romance flick on-screen. Breaking the impasse is Imtiaz Ali's next directorial venture 'Love Aaj Kal', produced by Dinesh Vijan and Saif Ali Khan. Based on the concept of love, as it was in the past (kal) and as it is in the present (aaj), the movie boasts of names like Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Neetu Singh, Rishi Kapoor, Rahul Khanna and Vir Das, in its star cast. The music for 'Love Aaj Kal, has been provided by Pritam, while Irshad Kamil is the lyricist. The romantic flick will hit theaters across India on 31st July 2009, under the banner 'Eros International'. A part of the shooting for the movie took place in Delhi and you can hope to see Lal Quila (Red Fort), Purana Qila (Old Fort) and the streets of the capital city on-screen. As to the rest of the movie, get ready to witness views of Kolkata, apart from London & San Francisco.
Love Aaj :The 'Aaj' (present) part of 'Love Aaj Kal' is based in the year 2009 and takes us across the cities of London, San Francisco and Delhi. We get a peek into the life of Jai (Saif Ali Khan) and Meera (Deepika Padukone). They make a contemporary couple, living in London. They love each other and are leading a happy life. One fine day, they find their life being pulled in different directions. Not a couple who believes in tying each other down, they decide to go with the flow and let things take their course. They live life by practical rules - Love Aaj!
Love Kal :Now, let us come down to the 'Kal' (past) of 'Love Aaj Kal'. We go back to the year 1965 and see a love story based in Delhi and Kolkata (then Calcutta). Here, we have Veer Singh (Saif Ali Khan), a guy who falls head over heels in love with Harleen Kaur (Deepika Padukone). Not much time later, he is seen standing under a tree and swearing that in this life as well as all the afterlives that he has, Harleen will be his wife. He covers a journey of 1000 km by train, just to have a glimpse of Harleen, standing under her balcony. This is Love Kal!
Love Aaj Kal Now, the 'Kal' of love meets the 'Aaj' and we get to see two types of love, each beautiful in its own right. While Veer is not able to understand the 'practical' approach of Jai, the latter cannot comprehend how Veer can be so emotional and completely guided by heart. Through their love stories, we come to realize that though the process of relationship changes with the changing time, the basic essence remains the same. As the distance between people grows, the fondness grows as well. With the widening gap, new bridges form automatically!

Ice Age:Dawn Of The Dinosaurs

Starring : Ray Romano,Queen Latifah,John Leguizamo,Denis Leary,Simon Pegg,Seann William Scott,Josh Peck,Bill Hader,Kristen Wiig.

A slightly more adventurous story breaks the trequel curse: this film is actually better than its predecessors. In addition to astoundingly eye-catching animation, this one also has a driving (albeit corny) narrative and some snappy new characters.
Mammoth Manny (voiced by Romano) is so preoccupied with the pregnancy of his mate Ellie (Latifah) that he hasn't noticed that his sabre-tooth pal Diego (Leary) is thinking of leaving to regain his mojo. Meanwhile, goofy sloth Sid (Leguizamo) wants a family of his own. So when he finds three eggs in a cavern, he decides to raise the hatchling dinosaurs as his own. Then their T-rex mother arrives, taking them and Sid into a lost underground world populated by dinosaurs, hungry plants and a swashbuckling eye-patched weasel named Buck (Pegg).
The screenwriters casually brush off the anachronism with one line ("I thought these guys were extinct!"), then merrily throw their ice-age characters into an oozing primordial rainforest. This lets the animators run wild with lurid colours that don't exist in the icy world above, plus lots of adorable baby creatures. But even as they're animated with terrific inventiveness, the action scenes feel familiar (balancing rocks, rushing water, snow slides). And while the 3D is sharp, the film would look better without it. Strangely, nothing ever leaps off the screen at us.
The best thing about this series is that the comedy and action are centred on the likeably oddball characters. And while the returning cast (including Scott and Peck as Ellie's possum brothers) get a chance to expand their roles, the film is stolen by Pegg's wonderfully mad Buck, a Captain Ahab character desperate to catch the legendary albino dinosaur that haunts his nightmares.
Of course the film is also punctuated with the hilarious antics of Scrat and his elusive acorn, and this time the filmmakers have given him a rival for the nut, the female Scratte, who also offers a romantic distraction. Like the rest of the script, this subplot is also simplistic and syruppy, especially when the abandoned acorn sings Alone Again (Naturally). But the film is such a colourful rush of action and comedy that, like the 65 million-year dinosaur anomaly.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

It’s FINALLY here. David Yates, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Jim Broadbent, Bonnie Wright, and many more hit theaters July 15th at 12:01am. It’s already sold out hundreds of theaters across the country, but is it worth it? Absolutely. If you can wait, the experience will be even better in IMAX, but the story and the visuals hold up no matter what theater you’re in.
First and foremost, there will be no spoilers in this review, so you can all just calm down.
A now, much more mature Harry Potter starts his 6th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It’s never an easy task for him to make it to school and this film is no exception. With the help of a good friend he makes it back and once there discovers an old book mysteriously marked “This book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince” in the new teacher, Horace Slughorn’s class. With the help of Dumbledore, Harry begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort’s dark past. Meanwhile, everyone in the school appears to be hormone crazy and Harry, Hermoine, and Ron all deal with their own versions of love.

Review

Story

Vengamamba (Meena) is the darling daughter of Krishnaiah and Mangamamba (Sarath Babu and Sudha).

She grows up to be an ardent follower of lord Venkateshwara and despite the crisis in her personal life and the hurdles, she is determined and has her goal focused. Soon, she reaches Tirumala and continues her writing works. There are issues she faces from members like Kainkaryam (Anant) and Dikshitulu (Ashok).

Does she manage to overcome those hurdles? Is she successful in her writings? All this forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Meena:
Meena has come up with a very good performance and she has shown grace and elegance in her act. She could do her best even in old get up but that ended up in brisk pace.

Others:
Sarath Babu was upto standard and even Subbaraya Sarma was good enough. Sudha did her melodrama as usual, Ananth and Ashok Rao were efficient as the villains, the real lookers were Saikiran and Sana as the gods and they were the perfect choice for the roles. L B Sriram was brief, Ranganath was barely there and others did their bit as required.

Technical Departments:

The director has come up with a neat presentation of the storyline and his narrative was appealing. The presentation was also good with some really melodious songs along with exceptional graphics. Editing was nice and the screenplay was smooth. The script was written without much complication and the pace of the film was good.

Music many a time appears to be a continuation to Annamayya. Even the lyrics written for the song of Vengamamba jananam is something similar to that of Annamayya Jananam song.

Highlights:
Get up of Sai Kiran as Lord Venkateshwara
Devotional depth in a few scenes

Final Analysis:

Though this did not have the glamour and glitz of ‘Annamayya’, the movie has been shaped well and it has come up with a standard result. The credit for this goes to the performances and also the songs. Since it is a purely devotional flick, the genre of audience would be quite specified such as the families and those with spiritual inclination.

Though the film faltered on elements such as lack of comedy and few unwanted songs, overall it has been able to engage the audience in a good way.

The current day audience can relate to it in terms of the dialogues and the makers have not attempted to make it melodramatic or sentimental. This is a good effort considering the genre and the success of the film would rely on some aggressive marketing and decent first week reports. The technical values of the movie were quite good and the graphics also were perfect. This is a good one for those who seek some clean movies.

This film is a must watch for all Telugus because, it’s the newly unleashed story of a ‘vaaggeyakaarini’ of British era in Tirumala.

Review

Story

Sreya (Swathy) lives with her mother (Delhi Rajeshwari) and works in an Audit Office. But she loves singing and hence gets into earning by joining as a stage singer in a Star Hotel. She also holds a dream of singing in the composition of AR Rehman.

Sastry (Tanikella Bharani) makes ways to find a concert for his friend who is a classical singer Rao (Vikram Gokhale). They happen to come to that Star Hotel in search of a chance at the same place and listen to Sreya’s performance. Rao shouts on her quoting the standards of music. Sreya takes that as a challenge and goes to the same Rao to learn music.

Srinu (Kamal Kamarj) a London returned guy happens to be the pair for Sreya.

What happens later and how Sreya fulfils her dreams form rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Colors Swathy: She is the only pulling factor for this film. She did her best in justifying the role. Fun, humor and energy were given by her in first half. But the second half demanded pathos part in her and hence audiences get to see a new Swathy with tears.

Kamal Kamaraju: It is good that he improved muscles and looking macho. At the same time he needs to improve a lot in the matters of action and dialogue delivery. His guitar scene is very eccentric and such hysterical scenes should be done only when they are necessary.

Vikram Gokhale: He is very new to Telugu screen. Audiences can connect to him only when he can deliver all sorts of histrionics required for silver screen. But he didn’t. He underplayed a lot in that passive patient role leaving no sense for his presence in the movie. He is known as very good stage artiste in Maharashtra but he proved not the only choice for the role. And the dubbing voice of renowned SP Balasubrahmanyam given to him is another flaw.
